Gratitude First has no accounts and no servers. We never receive, store, or sell your entries. Your data lives on your device, and Android backs it up to your own Google account.

Who we are

Gratitude First is an Android application published by FKK Enterprises LLC. You can reach us at hello@getgratitudefirst.com with any question about this policy or your data.

What the app stores

Everything the app records is written to storage on your own device. This includes:

None of this is sent to us. We have no servers holding your entries and no way to read them.

Backup to your Google account

Android's built-in backup service copies your entries, streak, challenge progress and settings to your own Google Drive account, so your journal returns when you set up a new phone. This is handled by Android and Google, not by us — the data goes to your Google account, and we never see it. Photos and voice notes are included where they fit within Android's backup size limit; your written entries are always backed up first.

You can turn this off at any time in your device settings, under Backup. You can also save your own copy of your journal from within the app, and import it back later.

Permissions and why they are needed

Usage access. The app checks which application is currently in the foreground so it can tell when you have opened one of the apps you chose to block. It reads the name of the app only. It cannot see anything you do inside that app.

Display over other apps. This allows the gratitude prompt to appear on top of the app you opened. Without it the prompt cannot be shown.

Camera and photo access. Used only when you choose to attach a photo to an entry. Photos are saved to the app's private storage on your device.

Microphone. Used only while you are actively recording a voice note. Recordings are saved on your device and are never transmitted or transcribed elsewhere.

Notifications. Used for the optional daily reminder and for the ongoing notification Android requires while the blocking service is running.

Run at startup. Restarts the blocking service after your phone reboots, so blocking keeps working without you reopening the app.

What we do not do

Sharing an entry

If you choose to send an entry to someone, the app hands the text to your device's own share menu. From that point the message is handled by whichever app you pick — your messaging app, email, or another service — under that app's own privacy policy. Nothing is shared unless you tap to send it.

Purchases

Payments are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. Google provides us with a record of whether a purchase is active, which is what unlocks paid features. Google's handling of your payment information is covered by its own privacy policy.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual entries at any time inside the app, or remove everything at once from Settings. Uninstalling the app removes its data from your device. Any copy held in your own Google account backup is managed by you through your device's backup settings. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our end and no request you need to send us.

Children

Gratitude First is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since the app collects nothing at all, no such information reaches us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
